Teacher Training/CPD

Green Trees offer whole day, half day and twilight teacher training sessions to help school’s take their Learning Outside the Classroom, plus offer lots of advice on how to embed outdoor learning into whole school plans.

Each session starts by looking at at the evidence that highlights the wide-ranging benefits of outdoor learning. We then look at health and safety considerations (including risk assessments) plus explore some of the barriers that staff face on a day-to-day basis with regards to outdoor learning. We then roll-up our sleeves and go outside to experience first-hand a whole host of curriculum-linked, hands-on activities that are truly tried and tested from our many years of experience delivering them. After tea and cake, we then go on to look at the helpful resources and equipment available and also various funding sources.

The main aim of these sessions is to give school staff confidence in teaching outside (no matter where they are on their outdoor learning journey) plus we share lots of handy tips and advice that we have gained through years of working outside ourselves. Above all, we aim to show how outdoor learning is not merely an ‘add-on’ - but a brilliant way to take all aspects of the curriculum outside.

According to the feedback we have received from schools that we have worked with, an unintended consequence of these sessions is that they are also great for team-building - as the whole staff team get the chance to spend time having lots of fun together too!
