Forest School sessions

Forest School is defined by The Forest School Association (FSA) as “an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment”.

Green Trees recognise that not all schools have access to wooded areas and/or can afford to travel to one. So, we can design and deliver sessions to suit your circumstances - whether that be in a woodland site, within your school grounds or other local, green spaces. Whatever the setting, all of our sessions embrace hands-on, self-led learning and exploration - which is of course central to the Forest School ethos.

Green Trees staff are fully-qualified Level 3, Forest School leaders and run regular weekly Forest School Sessions with several local schools including:

  • Katesgrove Primary School, Reading.

  • Whitchchurch Primary School.

  • Tigers Nursery, Thatcham.

These sessions can be booked as half or full day sessions and take place in a range of locations. For example the sessions at Katesgrove Primary School take place within a small outdoor area within their school grounds, whereas the sessions with Whitchurch Primary School take place at Withmead Nature Reserve. Whilst one setting is urban and the other rural - at the heart of all of our sessions is self-led, child centered learning which aims to foster a sense of and appreciation and respect for the natural world around us.
